2025 Kitchen and Bath Trends

In February 2025, Janel took the stage as a panelist at BRS (the Builder and Remodeler Show) along with 3 other industry experts to discuss the NKBA Kitchen and Bath trend outlook for 2025, and here is a summary of their discussion:

The biggest kitchen and bathroom trends for 2025 based on what’s emerging in the design world:

Kitchens

  1. Warm & Earthy Tones – Cooler grays are fading, making way for warm neutrals like taupe, mushroom, and rich browns. Olive green and deep blue are also trending for cabinetry.
  2. Textured & Organic Materials – Natural stone countertops with bold veining (marble, quartzite), textured backsplashes (zellige tiles, handmade ceramics), and fluted wood cabinetry are making a statement.
  3. Mixed Metal Finishes – Combining brass, matte black, and polished nickel in hardware and fixtures creates depth and interest.
  4. Concealed & Furniture-Like Cabinetry – Integrated appliances, hidden pantries, and cabinetry that looks like freestanding furniture (e.g., statement hutches) make kitchens feel more like curated living spaces.
  5. Statement Range Hoods – Custom, sculptural hoods in plaster, metal, or wood add an artistic element.
  6. Personalized space – that is unique to each client, not necessarily adhering to any trends but creating a meaningful space that is timeless to the client.
  7. Two toned cabinetry – Painted cabinetry that is paired with wood cabinetry, shelving, and accents warms creates a warm, organic, and welcoming environment.

Bathrooms

  1. Spa-Like Retreats – Bathrooms are transforming into serene escapes with steam showers, deep soaking tubs, and calming, nature-inspired palettes.
  2. Plaster & Textured Walls – Venetian plaster, limewash, and textured tiles add softness and a high-end feel to bathroom spaces.
  3. Statement Vanities – Custom, furniture-style vanities with unique wood grains, floating designs, or fluted details make a big impact.
  4. Bold Stone & Marble – Dramatic veining in countertops, backsplashes, and full-height shower walls is a major trend.
  5. Dark & Moody Palettes – Deep greens, charcoals, and rich browns are trending for a sophisticated, cozy feel.
  6. Brass & Mixed Metals – Warm metals, especially in aged or antique finishes, are adding depth and a vintage-inspired touch.
  7. Integrated Lighting – LED-lit mirrors, under-cabinet lighting, and layered sconces create a functional yet luxurious atmosphere.

Introducing color into design while keeping it versatile and timeless by balancing trends with classic elements:

BIOPHILIC COLOR INFLUENCES:

Nature is a primary influence when it comes to health and wellness in our fast paced world. Escaping to an oasis of calm in the home is key to being able to recharge personal batteries for taking on the world each day. That calm in the home is currently being influenced by the colors and textures of the outdoors. Biophilic design is definitely having more than a moment, making its presence in design through natural lighting, colors inspired by the earth and natural elements such as woods and stone.

  1. Neutral Foundation – Start with a timeless base of whites, beiges, greys, or warm earth tones for walls, cabinetry, and large furniture pieces. This ensures longevity and flexibility.
  2. Layered Accents – Introduce color through easily changeable elements like throw pillows, artwork, wallpaper, rugs, and decorative accessories. These can be updated as trends evolve without requiring a full redesign.
  3. Natural Elements – Incorporate color through materials like wood, stone, and greenery. These organic hues create warmth and depth while remaining timeless.
  4. Statement Pieces – Use bold colors in selective ways, such as an accent wall, a unique furniture piece, or a backsplash. Choosing classic, rich hues (like deep blues, greens, or terracottas) keeps it sophisticated.
  5. Mixed Undertones – Blend warm and cool tones to create a balanced palette that feels fresh but not tied to a single trend.
  6. Classic Patterns – Use traditional motifs like stripes, herringbone, or subtle florals in textiles and wallpaper to introduce color while maintaining an enduring aesthetic.
  7. Adaptable Lighting – Lighting can impact how colors appear in a space. Using layered lighting helps enhance the overall feel and makes colors more adaptable over time.
